INDONESIA: Gracia Auvindo has deployed an L-Acoustics A Series system at Ultra Super Club in Makassar, designed to support the venue’s combination of live performances and late night EDM programming.

Situated on the Tanjung Bunga waterfront, the 1,000-capacity venue features a 23m x 26m main dancefloor with a 12m-high ceiling. L-Acoustics certified partner Gracia Auvindo was responsible for systems design and post installation validation, with systems integrator Thomas Rulyanto carrying out the physical installation. L-Acoustics application engineer Jufri Price provided technical support during the design phase.

“The Ultra Super Club management team did their research before committing to a brand,” said Hendra Halim, application director at Gracia Auvindo. “Rather than taking a recommendation at face value, they visited existing installations to listen for themselves. They heard L-Acoustics at NOYA X 80 PROOF and compared it against competing systems at other venues. The L-Acoustics rig was the clear favourite.”

The integrator selected A15 over A10 for the main system, citing the venue’s low-frequency requirements. “In Indonesia, audiences love a strong low-frequency response,” explained Halim. “We knew the A15 would give them the impact they come for.”

The main left and right hangs each comprise three A15i Focus and one A15i Wide, driven by three LA4X amplified controllers. Eight KS28 subwoofers, powered by two LA12X amplified controllers, provide low frequency reinforcement. Two X12 loudspeakers serve as out fills, with four X8 units deployed as front fills.

The fixed steel beam structure presented a challenge for loudspeaker positioning, requiring the team to adapt its Soundvision models during installation.

“We mapped the project out in detail using Soundvision at the outset with the understanding that Soundvision’s ideal hang point would sometimes differ from the beam grid we had available to us,” said Halim. “We had to make adjustments of up to 50cm onsite. But the value of having modelled the room thoroughly beforehand was that our real-world changes could be assessed against a known baseline. It simplified the process and helped us work accurately within our existing constraints.”

Following a soft launch and the venue’s official opening, the system has been supporting nightly live band and DJ programming.
